Hello everyone. Trust you all are well and happy!!!
We are in the last week of May and where has it gone. I know that when you are busy time flies but at the same time we have had some good times this month.
During the week I celebrated my birthday and this year I chose to make my Rock Cakes for myself (I did share them). I stayed home and the day was spent with times of skype with family along with family calling in. It was a wonderful day and I was spoilt!
It's hard to see, but there is a cup fall of hot chia tea in that cup. I have developed my own recipe for the tea. I tried a few different concoctions this week but this is by far the favourite. If you have a steamer on a coffee machine, you are set. In a steamer jug I put 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla paste. I choose a cup and fill it to just over half with choice of milk. Steam will be added to the milk and so if you get the measurement right it will come nicely to the top of the cup. Add the milk to the jug along with some honey (I use 2 teaspoons) and steam using a thermometer to 80 degrees. I like it hot so this temperature suits me fine to enjoy straight away.
Have a go making your own. It's yummy!
I have made another facecloth for hubby and yet another dish cloth for D2. She would like a few more and I still have some wool left so its fun making them up in different colour combinations.
And I couldn't help myself especially when I found a little packet of buttons that I forgot I had. They were perfect for finishing of some owls.
It's very foggy here today. The only view I have out the window is the roof of the house next door.
Oh well....Dot

Monday, Monday
Good morning Monday.
What does the start of the week look like for you? I found it hard to get up when the alarm blurted out at 6.15am. It was dark and cold but I pushed through and hubby and I enjoyed a lovely walk before breakfast. The sun is out now and I can hang out the washing.
Look what came for me in the mail this week. Our family from far away sent me this lovley gift for Mothers Day. I am savouring the cherry chocolate and sticking to a piece a day. MMM!
I was sorting through some craft stuff (as you do) and came across a couple of lovely purple buttons. I had crocheted some owls up incorporating black and decided to use the buttons on this little fella. He has a purple tummy so matches well. Then someone came to visit and asked to buy a couple of my owls and so this one has gone to a new home. Oh, well, when those buttons arrive in the post, watch out.
This is my beautiful new cup and saucer with chai tea. My daughter called in with some tea bags and made us up a drink. I like it hot, but it was too hot and the spoon is there ready to remove the skin. Yummo!!! (sweetened with honey)
And have you tried this? I was shocked but pleasantly surprised. It was nice. I think the addition of caramel helped it along.
$$$ challenge:
May I say, you really have to discipline yourself to meal plan and try and do a single shop per week. I am certainly working on it and keeping myself busy with the challenge of using what I have at hand. No complaints so far.
This week: $105.85
Have a great week and keep smiling: Dot

Mother's Day
Good afternoon readers. Mother's Day turned out to be a wonderful day for me yesterday. Hope those of you who are mothers enjoyed your day in a special way too. A thought goes out to those who have lost their mothers. I miss my mum but I know she is in a far better place and in the best of health. A day does not go by and I see little things around and about that always remind me of mum. It's cute and funny how memories stay there forever if you let them.
Yesterday afternoon we had all our family up on skype for a catchup. It was great ... thanks to technology.
Last night dinner was made for me. D2 cooked up a roast lamb and served it with homemade honey mustard dressing along with potatoes, carrots and cauliflower & broccoli cheese. Delicious.
Most days now are long and cold and so the owls are popping out everywhere. Not really, as I make them I line them up along the servery. I have ran out of eyes and waiting for the post again, so I have some partly done in my basket.
Their behinds .... hee hee.
$$$$ challenge
I have set myself a challenge to spend only $100 a week on groceries. Last week was the first week of doing so and I calculated in at $112.35. Not bad, I will see if this week can be better.
Have a great week...Dot

My Month
Hello Everyone and welcome to another day in the life of dot's tidbits. I refer to May being my month as not only do we celebrate Mothers Day, but my birthday comes around too.
This weekend is our states annual Agricultural Festival. Hubby and I like to attend every couple of years and this year we have planned a couple of nights away to spend a full day at the festival. The festival runs for 3 days and it is always well attended. This starts the celebrations for my birthday and I know we will have a great time.
Last week our craft day did not happen as we are waiting for some things to come in the post.
I had some yummy home-grown tomatoes passed onto me so I roasted them and made them up into pasta sauce. We have used the sauce with ricotta gnochi and pizza and there is still a little left to have with some pasta soon.
D2 came around over the weekend and cooked dinner for us. This was a vegetable quinoa dish. Yum...
...followed by apple rosettes. They were made with shortcrust pastry and red-skinned apples. I did not see them being made but was most happy to eat them. They were delicious. (I think there may be leftovers for lunch today - whoohoo!!)
I made up another cute owl last night and decided to add wings to it. This one is now in the post along with a few others I have made. I am on a roll. I have collected all my wool scraps and put them in a basket. I pull this out after dinner and happily crochet bits and pieces to make these up. Not one is the same and they are a lot of fun, believe me.
Currently I am reading a series of books. It is certainly hard to put down, a real good read.
And to finish off today:
This is what we are blessed to see on most of our morning walks. Just gorgeous. Hubby snapped this one for me last week.
