Craft/Hobby

This year I am taking part in making a Temperature Blanket. Last year I watched and gained interest as the year went by on Instagram and I am still amazed at the different and unique ways others are putting these blankets together. I chose a linen stitch and 8 colours ranging from Red (hot) to Almond (very cold). The start of our year in our part of Australia begins with summer and it did not get too hot and in fact the weather is turning cooler now. Hopefully I will get to use some red yarn toward the end of the year.

Another 'work in progress' is my cardigan. This is the first piece (back) and will be completed by the weekend I hope.

I made a few cowls.

And there always seems to be a beanie on the needles.

Have a great week ... Dot

Unusual

Have you ever had a day where everything seemed to be unusual around you, but you got through it and the next day was back to norm. I had one such a day last week when I awoke at 4.44 am and that was it. I was out and starting the day in the dark and so this is what followed.

On my walk, there was a barge boat at the jetty and as I continued around the boardwalk it turned and went over the other side of the river.

Then there was a tractor parked on the grass, no-one around, just left there.

It was lovely further round to walk beside the lapping water. I hadn't seen a full tide for a long time. Gorgeous.

It was such a beautiful mild day I got onto the deck with a cuppa and did some knitting. I am starting a cardigan for myself. I truly hope it is successful. All that knitting and you like it to be suitable.

To top the day off the evening sky was a display of beautiful red/orange.

Cleaning Products

I am sure you have found as I have, that certain things in a group run out at the same time. Recently my cleaning products all needed restocking. I make most things where I can and so out came the recipes.

I made a batch of soap. This needs to be turned every other day and is cured in several weeks.

With making cleaning products, there are numerous recipes available. I have tested many and have settled on ones that are simple and cheap to make. For dish washing powder I use 1 cup washing soda, 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup of citric acid. I use white vinegar in the rinse cycle and the cleaning process is wonderful.

In the laundry I prefer to use powder. I combine a mix of 1 cup of Lux flakes, 1/2 cup washing soda and 1/2 cup borax. Sometimes I add a few drops of essential oils and sometimes I double the recipe.

Yesterday my daughter arrived with a batch of brownies. I enjoyed a piece today with a cup of Orange & Cinnamon tea. Delicious.

That's all for today. Be good ... Dot

Around Here

Lately I have been directed to some wild un-sprayed blackberries. Say no more!! I took the time aside to collect quite a few and made a rustic blackberry pie. Delicious served with cream.

Hubby found up some gear stored for quite a few years and got them out, did some repairs, found a spot and ...

... all good. He did not get off the ground. This is called 'kiting' and it determines how fit you are. (hee hee)

The temperatures have cooled a little now that Autumn is here. At the same time we in for some lovely serene weather.

Keep looking up, send the praises and blessing will come down and fall in your lap.
