Flying

Hubby commented yesterday that the year is flying by and that it is. It seems to happen when one is kept busy and because we started off with a wedding...say no more. Lots of exciting things have been happening in our lives and so time flies.

The three of us had a wonderful weekend away and we arrived home yesterday mid afternoon. We all agreed it was good to get home while it was still daylight and get everything packed away. We caught up with family and friends and did a touch of shopping.

I replaced my wallet, so out with the old in with the new slimmer wallet. Hubby thinks I will not fit all that I need into the new one....we'll see!!!

This is the soap I gift-wrapped last week. I found some pieces of printed absorbent paper that did the trick nicely. Most of our family use my soap. If you would like to know more, please check out the blog listed in my side bar (Down to Earth)

Off to clean out that wallet....Dot

Doing

What have I been doing?

Welcome to Winter in Australia!!!. You wouldn't believe it, but today the sun is shining and I have clothes on the line. Happy about that!!!

My craft cupboard is looking much better. I have to admit I have not finished the cupboard, as such, but have been taken up with completing some of those unfinished objects.

I purchased some wool when on holiday last year (or maybe it was the year before) to make a scarf and I finished that this week.

This is the wool I used. For my scarf I picked up every second stitch. So I had 5 stitches on my cute 'happy' needles and it was a slow but fast process. If you happen to drop a stitch you pretty much have to start all over. So slow and steady I had it done in a few hours. It has not been worn yet.

The soap I made 6 weeks ago was ready to put away. Good timing, as we were on our last bar. I have put aside a few neat pieces for gifts. More about that next time.

This week I also had some time at my sewing table. My kitchen hand towels need replacing so I am in the middle of making up 3 more. As you can see with the first one, I crocheted a top for it. It did not turn out the best as there were some holes but I covered them with crocheted flowers. The towel was completed with some pretty bias binding.

There is a lot on this week and to finished it off we have a long weekend...Dot

What's happening around here?

Hello readers.

We have commenced the last week of Autumn here in Tasmania. The weather is still lovely but cold. Each morning the heater is put on to take the chill off the air and today I plan to walk down town to do a few things. It's not raining and the sun is there somewhere among the clouds.

Recently we had a surprise appear before us when we looked out our window.

It is not spinning yet and we hope when it does it does not make too much noise!! (I am a light sleeper)

This is my first attempt at making a 'cup cover'.  I like to make sure nothing pops in my cup if I have to leave it. I have made a few more since, made some adjustments and happy with the results.

Over the past few weeks, I have been cleaning out my craft cupboards. Its taking me a while as I find I am finding things unfinished and setting in and doing them before I complete cleaning. I am having fun but I plan to seriously get all the cleaning done this week.

My current slippers had worn out and as I came across these squares I had done last year I completed them a few nights ago. My feet are cosy and warm.

The three of us are all well and happy. Until next time, enjoy life, and I am back to that cupboard.

Relocation...on the road again

When our daughter and new hubby returned from their honeymoon it was time to think about relocating them to their new place of residence. Because this move was interstate, the task ahead involved packing their little car and our car. The guys were great at packing and so they go into it and had it done in no time. The girls were busy putting things together for them, although the major part has been done previously by D3, and making sure nothing was left behind.

The front of our vehicle and a little room behind the seat was left for hubby and I to store our personal things. We took as little as possible and found that it worked well for us over the next few weeks.

We traveled together across beautiful countryside, armed with uhf's, and after a few days we arrived at our destination.

We spent the next couple of weeks finding a flat and helping the new couple to settle into a new community. Each of us found things to do and we had a load of fun.

The time came around for us to leave our family and hubby and I took a different route home. With an empty car it felt a little weird. We took advantage of the space and spread out our things....room for shopping!!!

Watch out for that cow!!

Back home and the house is a little empty...that's another story. Time for lunch....Dot

Wedding Bells

Wow!! Another beautiful Autumn day today. I am sitting in our office with the sun pouring in and a gentle breeze coming through the window.

Recently our youngest daughter was married. All the family were home and we had a wonderful time together celebrating the occasion.

The groom arrived and departed with his new bride via helicopter.

Our lovely girls.

The Cake: 1 layer was chocolate mud cake, another vanilla and the top was fruit cake made with currants. I made the Fruit Cake. It was made to the bride's taste and is now tucked away in their freezer to pull out on their 1st Anniversary.

And last but not least:

The happy couple, all smiles, and what a beautiful couple they make.

Rest in Peace

Molly, our little dog, passed away during her sleep on Sunday night. The above picture was taken 10 years ago when she was a year old. She turned 11 in February this year and had not been herself for the last few months.

It feels strange that she is gone. Another chapter of our lives closed. At this stage, I am not keen to get any more pets.

This picture was taken when she sat for a second. It was always hard to get a good shot of her as she was always moving around too quickly.

And, of course, she is eating here which made it easy to take a picture.

Anyhow, until next time....Dot ;)
