New

Hello and welcome to a week of new things. Here at home the bins have new liners, the bed is in the process of having clean sheets put on it, and sadly I developed a new cough which has left me feeling and sounding bluurrh! I will be glad when I am back to feeling 100%. In the meantime, I have been able to experience and see new things happening around me.

This recipe has been on the 'to do' list for a while and I decided to get in and make it. Broccoli bread. I have only found a Bread Roll recipe that I really like so far on the Low Carb woe and I am always looking and trying out new recipes.

I toasted a piece and had it with poached eggs, tomato sauce, parmi and mayo.
That was nice, but ...

... I preferred it better the next day. I smothered the bread with grated cheddar cheese and baked it well in the oven and covered it with scrambled eggs and mayo. It looks a bit colourless, but the broccoli bread makes up for it.

This week I volunteered for 2 1/2 days in the local art and craft shop, The Arty Duck. The days were very busy and fulfilling and I really enjoyed myself.

This order was not expected until next week, but my bag of new yarn arrived couple of days ago. The top hank has already been rolled into a ball and a cowel has been commenced.

Over the weekend I tried out a new Induction Cooker that has been waiting for me to use. Wow, it is fast. I absolutely loved it and have been putting it to use.
Once hubby and I read the instructions we were able to use correctly. Hee, hee!!

On my morning walk today.

On a roll

Hello and welcome to another week in the life of Dot's Tidbits. Last week was a whirlwind but today I am on a roll. I have cleaned the bathroom, even unhooked the shower curtains and they are on the line. There is a chance of showers today but I am prepared to keep an eye on the radar.

And I am here (earlier), eating my breakfast. A lot has to do with not being distracted and sticking to the list (hee hee)!

So for breakfast today we just warmed a piece of Peanut Brownie in the microwave and topped it with yogurt, fresh strawberries and shredded coconut. Yum.

A new soup recipe came to my attention this week. It is made with Red Onions so this adds a little sweetness to the soup.

4 red onions
2 Tb wine vinegar
3 cups water
2 ts beef stock powder

Set oven to 200 degrees. Cut onions in half, discarding paper peel that comes free. Place on a tray cut side up and drizzle with oil. Roast for 30 mins. Cool and slice (only the soft pieces). Place in a saucepan with remaining ingredients and boil for 10 mins. Season and serve with grated Parmesan.

Try it, I am sure you will like it, and it's pink!!!

I put this together and isn't it cute?  A nice little vest for a nice little boy.

Breakfast is gone, the washing machine is calling my attention, so off I go.

Have a wonderful week, hope all things work together well for you all ... Dot :-)

Coughs

Welcome to another week here on Dot's Tidbits. There has been some coughing going on from 2 out of 3 of us here at home. Sleepless nights and sore throats have been the order for a few days, but thankfully we are feeling much better. Our singing voices are back and energy levels up.

These are Brussel sprouts, cut in half and baked in the oven till very brown. They are absolutely delicious. Not many made it to the plate as hubby and I were devouring them fresh from the oven.

I finished knitting a little cardigan.

Gorgeous sunset. The next day was lovely.

Have a great week ... Dot

Call Out

In the last week, a call out was made for mum to come and lend a hand from the new mum in our family. Her hubby was going to be away for a few days and she wanted some company. Of course, I jumped at the chance and set up things at home and headed off.

We took bubby out with us for the weekly shop and he was very good the whole time. We managed to get everything done and home again in time for the next feed.

Over the last few days there with them, D3 started using her collection of cloth nappies. They are so cute and there is quite an array of colours and designs that I found I was taking a while to pick one to use. I still need to get the hang of using them as I did not quite get the clips in the correct places.

The order for breakfast one morning was poached eggs. I had mine on cauli toast while D3 was happy to have hers on toast with cheese. We both had not had poached eggs for a while and they were just delicious. Of course I have mine lathered with mayo as well. Mmmm!

Back home, I ventured outside to see if I could find some colour in our little garden here. I found some.

And I guess as spring is just around the corner, I will find more colour in our little patch in the middle of the town.

Have great week ... Dot

A is for

Hi Everyone and welcome to the first day of AUGUST!!!

This marks the first day of the last month of winter, but I must say we have had a mild one. We can look forward now to morning frosts but who cares, it always turns into a beautiful day following the ice.

One afternoon this week I planted some pansies along the path just outside the door. They certainly will look nice when they bloom.

On Saturday hubby and I went out to the farm to clean out his dad's old cowshed. A few of us joined in and cleaned out a few sheds and set to putting most of it in the fire. What an education. We found some interesting things and many memories were brought forth to mull over and met with different emotions. It was a GOOOD day!!!!

The game of play around the lunch table lately has been 'Kings in the corner'. The 3 of us take every opportunity to play a game and it makes for a lot of fun. If D2 misses out over lunch, she will set it up to play one over dinner. We just have to play a game a day. Hee hee!!

In the crochet corner:

2 x colourful snoods. They are fun to make and proving to be popular.

A black cowel. Nice and soft as they are worked with pure merino yarn. They sit very nice and I been producing a lovely array of colours.

I made up some fingerless mittens. I have navy yarn again but also have a new colour 'curry'.

Have a great week ... Dot (I plan to)
