Something I bought & Australia Day Weekend

Hi!! As we have a wedding coming up there has been a reason to invest in some more shoes. 'Dorothy' sandals for Dorothy, hee hee!!!

Baking Choc Chip Peanut Cookies.

And they are delicious.

Weeded my vegie patch.

Lots of washing done.

Whipper snipping.(This rose bed is now mulched.)

Lots of hours spent here; I kept the coffee coming!!

Up bright and early this morning and before the day heated up we removed the pile of mulch from the backyard. The garden beds and Molly's kennel look better for the attention given and the backyard is a lot more tidier.

Hubby is taking me on a date tonight. Dinner and movie. Whooeeee!!! ...Dot

To Do List

Do you have one of these? Or more? At the moment we have them everywhere. More so at present than any other time as....wait for it...we have a wedding in our family. Whoohoo!!! D3 has met her man. He is a great guy and they both compliment each other well.

Things are coming together. A day does not go by when we have either crossed something off the list or slotted something else in that we have thought of. I must say, things are going smoothly for which I am thankful.

This list was sitting in a pile on the dining room table. Today I decided to display it in the office doorway, and it has proved successful. This list covers the week of the wedding including the day after as there will be still 'stuff' to day after the big day.

At the front is hubby's list which is broken up into 'inside tasks' and 'outside tasks'. Over the way is my planner which is always not far from me. There are also little notes there for 'today without fail'. This usually means that time is running out for something to be done and today is the day.

This might all seem chaotic, but believe me, to have a list to fall back on saves brain clog and allows everyone to think clearly. We try to sit down and watch a movie each night to tune out from the days events. Tonight hubby is still in the office as he has a deadline to meet and D2, D3 and I are watching No 1 dvd Fast and Furious.

The most important list is the wedding invitation. The new couple designed and created them. They did a wonderful job.

And last, but not least, our new 2014 Family Calendar. Each family has it's own column to note appointments and flights in and out (there have been a few of them) etc. Our family from WA will be here in 3 weeks. We are all looking forward to a wonderful time together.

I hope you enjoy making your lists and seeing them completed, one task at a time....Dot

Makes Me Smile

Lots of things make me smile but there are some things that not only make me smile but fill me with joy inside at the same time. Who doesn't like to receive mail? Today was a good day for me in that department and also I was able to collect some more yummy produce from the garden.

I now have some lovely cotton yarn in my stash that I have wanted to work with for some time. I have collected some patterns and plan to get into this soon to make gifts for birthdays and Christmas.

The raspberry patch is slowing down now. About every four days I pop out there and get a few to eat fresh. I have managed to put a nice lot away in the freezer to make jam. From memory, I think the raspberries come around a second time in a few weeks. I certainly hope so.

The peas have been very welcome on our plates. Tonight I am cooking them up with carrots, beans and new potatoes to accompany lamb chops. I have set the table outside as it is cooler out there to eat.

Must go get the webber out....Dot

Happenings Every Day

Certain things are taken up each day in our home and not one day is the same, it holds a variety of events. I may have a visitor (which I did today) and they were welcomed during our lunch break while I made us all a cup of coffee. There was lots of laughter, which is good for the soul.
Sometimes the weather is not favorable and its hard to get outside (today we have gusts of up to 70kms or so). Hubby insisted I lay in a little this morning as the wind kept us awake during the night, so I climbed out an hour or so later. Today the washing is staying where it is until a fine day. The forecast promises sunny weather for the rest of the week. It is hard to imagine that tomorrow is going to be so different from today. The wind is fairly rocking things about outside and to listen to it puts you a bit on edge.

There is always dishes to wash. I have a routine at the moment where I wash, rinse and pile them on the drainer to dry. I wipe (or delegate someone to help me) the cutlery and put that away before I leave the sink. The dry dishes are put away before the next meal is commenced. It works well with a family of 4 or 5 (this will change soon).

Every morning the coffee machine is making a hot cuppa for hubby and I before he heads off to work. I look forward to this time together each day (mini date).

Each day I check the forecast on my phone to see if what I have planned will work in. Yesterday we wanted to bring our bikes back from 'out of town'. D2 and I rode them out a few weeks ago. I think we would have found ourselves blown off the bike. Maybe next week will be suit.

Until next time....Dot
