Celebrations

It's an absolutely beautiful day today.

D2 celebrated her birthday recently.

We had pies and lemon flummery with strawberries.

I had a go at making Strawberry Creaming Sodas. They were so nice we are going to make them at Christmas. You just make up a strawberry syrup and put 2 tb in each glass along with ice cubes, soda water and 2 tb cream.

This week I have made a couple of covered coat hangers.

All I can say as usual is, enjoy life and keep smiling.

Clever

I am always amazed at the cleverness of those around me. I try to always give praise where it is due when I notice such things. My Heavenly Father always places new and interesting things in front of me and recently this bunch of spring flowers held a different and gorgeous display.

The Arty Duck where I volunteer as part of a team, have many sellers there who are very clever. Just take look at a few and you will see what I mean.

Vehicles of all sorts and sizes. The boys love them.

Work with egg shells of all shapes and sizes. Beautifully clever.

Lots of intricate work here. Very pretty.

These key-rings are so cute. Someone has a steady hand.

This pop of colour is a delight to see. The variety of colours and sizes is spectacular.

On a walk lately I noticed this bright pop of spring colour. It is certainly a nice time of year.

The sun is out, a daughter has a birthday today, so we are going for a walk together.

Spring

In Australia, we are celebrating the arrival of Spring. Spring brings with it the warmer temperatures, more windy weather and the promise of Summer coming in a few months.
Lots of spring bulbs are out and new growth is everywhere.

Roses on their way.

I picked this up from the local butcher. Spring Lamb is available in all the supermarkets and butchers and this printed booklet contains lots of yummy and easy recipes to try.

I made Beef Pies this week. I have made them twice, they are delicious. I made up some beef stew, thickened it and made some low carb compliant pastry and put them together.

I will have to try some lamb ones.

I finished this jacket.

My afternoon walk yesterday. It was a beautiful windy day.

See you next time ... Dot :-)

Date Night

Do you have a date night? This is a 'time out' for you as a couple or might be just for YOU to get away from the pressure of home or work life.

Hubby and I get away once a month for an afternoon/evening. We travel an hour away (by the sea), with a list of things to do including a visit to the Chiropractor and lately we have incorporated a trip to the movies. Movies tickets are cheaper on a Tuesday night, win win!

Last night's choice was this movie and it is highly recommended with a good story line and very funny.

Recently I pulled up my tablet with the recipe for Marinara Sauce and made it. We tried some that evening with cheese sticks, then yesterday I put it on a pizza. It is so delicious.
The recipe only needs an onion, 2 tins of diced tomatoes, 2 packets of tomato paste and herbs. I think the secret is in the 30 minutes simmering time before you try.

Tonight's dinner is in the slow cooker in the kitchen with the remaining sauce on some lamb. Mmm, may have to make up a yummy mash to go with.

Try and have some 'time out' for yourself ... Dot :-)
