As the weather is warming up, it was high time I got out into my garden. At least the veggie patch. It had not received much attention over the last few months so I had a day this week and I BLITZED it!
Last year I seriously put in place a 4 bed rotation and so I had made a plan of what to plant and where to plant. But first I had to put the muscles to work and get rid of huge clumps of grass that had embedded themselves in and around the raspberry patch.
Molly is contented in her freshly cleaned out run. To the left you can see the raspberry patch. I think this year will be the 4th year we have had this patch.
At the entry to my veggie garden I love the big pot in which the parsley has started off really well. There are a few lettuces making their home in there as well. In the shaded section I have spring onions which I raised from seed and there is garlic growing around the sides of the bed.
After weeding and placing lime on this bed, I have planted peas and climbing butter beans. Once the beans have come out to say hello, I will thread some twine on the poles to encourage them to climb. Over the back, with the terracotta bag surround, is a Yellow Tomato we picked up from the local nursery last week. In the bed where the tomato is I have planted potatoes and you can just see the last of the kale we have been enjoying on our plates.
And inside in the sunny foyer at the front of our home, I have planted seeds of capsicum, coriander, cucumber, lettuce, spring onion and tomato. They have nearly all poked their little heads out. (I call them my babies). Of course, the lettuces were up first and look at them. I have since put a box of dirt beside the can here and I will transplant some lettuces tomorrow.
Off to eat dinner. Fish, chips, baked pumpkin and corn on the cob, followed by Rice Pudding.
Have a great weekend....Dot

Nicer Coffee
Since I was last here I have learnt to improve my coffee service at home. I attended a brief coffee course which taught me a few things and I have added them to my skills of making a yummy coffee.
We were given this card to take home. Mind you, I have still a lot to learn. We did not cover fancy tops on coffee...next time!!!
Hubby and I have been busy preparing for our annual holiday. D2 returned last week from her holiday and we celebrated her birthday here this week. We are all getting just that little bit older. Never-mind, the sun just popped out again and I am off to prepare a stir fry for dinner.

Just the Two of Us
Today is day 4 of 6 that hubby and I are at home being a family of 2 instead of 4. And I am noticing the difference. Not in a bad way, but while hubby is at work I am not bumping into anyone and the place is quiet. I really notice it at meal time.
At the start of the week I purchased 2 porterhouse steaks. Once night we shared a piece with steam vegies and last night we shared the other piece with baked vegies. Today I cooked a huge quiche for lunch and tonight I will make up Tuna Mornay Bake. I should have plenty of leftovers for the weekend.
Slide sorting update:
I spread out across the table and made quite a mess.
When I plugged in the slide projector it started making a noise. Hubby soon fixed it for me and away I went. The job is nearly finished and I should get the table clear tomorrow.
Have a great weekend and happy Father's Day dads....Dot

Where Oh Where!!!
Where has August gone?
At the very beginning of the month D3 and I went to a Women's conference in Melbourne. We stayed a few days extra and enjoyed some shopping and looking around. We had a great time together.
Sadly, I came down the the flu when I arrived home. As I was coming back to normal health, hubby came down with it too. Oh, dear!! He is still not 100% but is sleeping much better.
Last week, I accompanied my husband on another trip to Melbourne. He had a course to attend for the week. I was happy to do some retail therapy and while doing so came across some lovely clothes to update my wardrobe. Hubby finished each night around 4 pm so we would go for a walk about and have dinner together. We chose a different venue each night and enjoyed our time together too.
I took some wool with me and I ........
....started my ripple blanket. I have had the wool for some time and now I am on a roll.
My sister gave me some lovely granny square slippers. I must be heavy footed as I have worn a hole in one already.
I have started some squares to see if I can put some together too. The slippers are very comfortable to wear and pretty too.
TO DO LIST
We all have these, don't we? Today I started on one item on my list.
I have in my possession a box of slides that belonged to my parents. In the future, I plan to have my siblings and their families over for a slide night. I have begun the process of viewing them and putting them in specific piles, eg: each sibling, Dad, Mum, family etc. It has certainly been an interesting time taking a trip back down memory lane.
The days are getting longer here and daylight savings does not kick in for over a month. Spring is just around the corner and I have noticed some bulbs are out in flower already. They are beautiful.
Be happy.....Dot

Everyday
This month I have been keeping up with pictures on my phone on Instagram. I have been following the prompts from FMSPHOTOADAY. Today, however, I decided to blog about it.
We had some heavy rain the night and again today.
General tidy up.
In between showers, I walked down the get the mail and a few other jobs.
Bit of meal planning. Menu tonight is: Fish (flake), Chips, Coleslaw and Cauliflower cheese.
Molly joined me for a few outside jobs.
It's growing!!! Now 132cm. Tonight after dinner I plan to do some more.
Have a great weeked, Dot :-)

Holidays
It has been holiday time here for school children. This year is Tasmania's first year ever of having 4 terms. Even though my children are grown up, I still tend to put myself in the holiday mode. I have taken to sleeping in when I can and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I never used to be able to sleep in at all, but with the dark, often wet mornings and new dark blinds, I find it easy to do this winter.
Last weekend we all awoke to cold air blowing from our heat pump. It was immediately switched off. Hubby had to wait for the rain to stop, which was the next day, and after getting on the roof and cleaning out a few cobwebs, away it went sending out hot air. It's amazing sometimes what a little service will do.
The weather was mild, but we did pop out to in-laws for a toasty warm by the fire.
My hands have been busy with knitting and crocheting. I have made assorted dishcloths and mug huggers. These have been mainly for gift giving.
I am challenging myself with a new crochet pattern and making myself a scarf.
When I popped outside recently, look what I caught!!!!
I stood for while in wonder. How beautiful.
